Texas2k Series25 Case

This Series25 case for the Texas2k system represents a 2000-bus electric power grid that is entirely synthetic, built from public information and a statistical analysis of real power systems.  It bears no relation to the actual grid in this location, except that generation and load profiles are similar, based on public data. The case includes power flow data as well as parameters for transient stability and geomagnetic disturbance studies. The case is provided in PowerWorld format, including binary (PWB), PowerWorld auxiliary text format, Matpower format, PSS/E raw format, and PSLF epc format. More about the data formats. This case is derived from the original 2000-bus Texas case (ACTIVSg2000 [1]), updated to 2025 level load and generation, along with new additional transmission facilities and with improved dynamic performance [2].

The current release of this dataset download includes one case.
Case 1: 2025 Summer Peak

The case release also includes data for using this case in the expansion planning problem. It includes the original 2016 case on which this case is based, the case with only the new generation, load, substations, and buses (no new transmission), and a list of transmission line candidates from which the transmission expansion planning problem can choose. This dataset may be useful for transmission expansion planning research.
